|Custom Wedding Ceremonies
~ meaningful, memorable, and created just for you ~
Who would have dreamed that a shy college English major, homemaker, mother, and writer,
would end up performing wedding ceremonies! For many years, Emily wished to find a profession
that would combine her interests in multi-faith spirituality, symbolism, and her desire to inspire
others, with her writing ability, her enjoyment of public reading, and her delight in meeting people
one-on-one (or one-on-two as in the case of meeting engaged couples!). But it wasn't until 2007
that she learned about the celebrant profession in a copy of Money MagazIne that her father had
given her. The magazine lay unopened for several days until one particular day when she decided to
write in her journal: THIS IS THE DAY THAT I WILL DISCOVER THE WORK I AM MEANT TO DO
IN THIS LIFE! She read the Money article about life-cycle celebrancy and applied to the Celebrant
Foundation & Institute the very next day. In May of 2008 Emily was certified as a life-cycle
celebrant, specializing in weddings, and established the business, Custom Ceremonies.
As a graduate of the Celebrant USA Foundation & Institute's wedding certificate program, Emily
was trained in the orchestration and art of ceremony. The Institute taught her the importance of
working collaboratively with clients while planning their wedding ceremonies. She will guide you in
choosing rituals, readings, and symbols, that will fulfill your vision of the perfect wedding. Best of
all, she will use the story of your relationship and your personal feelings about each other as the
focus for the ceremony.
Before Emily became a celebrant she was a freelance writer. Her book, Dream Weaving: Using
Dream Guidance to Create Life's Tapestry, was the culmination of many years spent studying the
importance and meaning of symbols. Symbols can be used in a variety of creative ways to enhance
a wedding or other type of ceremony.
A review by a 9/6/14 bride who was married at The Inn at West Settlement:
"Going with Custom Ceremonies was one of the best vendor decisions we made. Whereas, with
other vendors, we constantly had to be checking in and making sure they still remembered us, with
Emily, we always felt fully attended to. In fact, she stayed on top of us to make sure we were
getting everything done on time. (It was much needed.) She is incredibly organized and efficient.
The ceremony itself turned out great. We laughed; we cried; it was better than Cats. It is now a
month later and guests are still telling us how surprised they were by the emotional spectrum they
experienced, all thanks to Emily's well-chosen questions and eloquent synthesis of our answers.
We're very grateful."
